Artist Statement

My inspiration for my work comes from dealing with consuming emotions. What I create is an extension of myself and my experiences. My process reflects this. When I create my art the paint consumes the portrait, making the person and identity of that person invisible.

My work is a combination of photography and digital paint. I am interested in the relationship between color, shape, and brush stroke. There is a strong emotional connection to the colors that I use and the portrait. I work in black and white with pops of colors to draw focus to these colors and emotions. The main focus of my art is not necessarily the person, the portrait is a canvas that I paint on.
